A Chance To Win Big At Ugbrooke Family Fun Day

Cancer Lifeline South West is running a grand prize draw which will culminate at its first ever Family Fun Day on Sunday 27th April. And the winning tickets will be drawn by David ‘Fitz’ Fitzgerald at 3pm.

Prizes in the draw include a 43” Smart TV; a maintenance free garden bench; and a Canon EOS R50 camera. For sporting fans, there’s a pair of boxing gloves signed by the one-and-only Frank Bruno. Plus vouchers for a 4-ball Golf Round; a family ticket to RHS Rosemoor; and an Amazon voucher.

Tickets at £1 each, in books of 10, are on sale right now. “There are some great prizes available, thanks to people’s generosity,” said Kate McCormick, CLSW Trustee and Event Project Manager, “and we’d love everyone to dive in and help us sell the tickets.”  If you could take a book or two and sell them to your friends, family or work colleagues, check out the details.

The top prize was donated by the Tagg family. Long-time supporter and former Trustee, Sally Tagg, said: “I have witnessed first hand the restorative effect the time to retune breaks have in resetting the ‘new normal’ after a cancer diagnosis and treatment. There is nothing else like it in the area and expansion is desperately needed.

Since its founding in 2002, CLSW has provided therapeutic ‘Time to Retune’ breaks for people who have completed cancer treatment, along with their primary carers. These breaks offer a much-needed opportunity to process their experience and start looking to the future. This support is provided free of charge, and with no public funding, so the charity relies on fundraising, sponsorship, and donations. It hopes to increase the number of breaks it can offer each year, hence the fundraising push.

One of the charity’s fiercest supporters is DCW Polymers, who donated the second prize and have recently funded an entire break. “We are proud to support CLSW.” said Simon Almond, MD of DCW POlymer, “They are a fantastic, unique local charity offering vital support and respite to families affected by cancer, providing an experience of calm, care and compassion during an awful time in their lives.”

The Family Fun Day will take place in the beautiful grounds of Ugbrooke House, near Newton Abbot, and promises a packed programme of activities for all ages. Visitors can look forward to a dog show, live music, exciting sports demonstrations, and taster sessions, along with plenty of surprises throughout the day. Taking place at the end of the Easter holidays and the start of the spring and summer season, the event is expected to attract guests from across the south west.
