Cancer Lifeline South West (CLSW) is holding a dog show as part of its first ever Family Fun Day on Sunday 27th April, in the name of community and fundraising.
The event will take place in the beautiful grounds of Ugbrooke House, near Newton Abbot, and promises a packed programme of activities for all ages.
Visitors to the Family Fun Day are invited to enter their dogs in one or more of the ten fun classes, including waggiest tail; child’s best friend; cutest puppy; and best oldie (over 8). Details of all the classes can be found on the dog show page. Registration and payment will be on the day, but owners are encouraged to reserve their places in advance, via the dog show page, as this part of the day is expected to be very popular.
“The dog show is sponsored by The Old Rydon Inn of Kingsteignton,” said Donna Cook, Chair of Trustees for CLSW “ and we are very grateful to them for their support.”
“We have been touched by cancer and believe this is an amazing cause,” said Amy, who runs The Old Rydon Inn together with partner, Charlie, “We also love doggies and supporting anything local, especially when asked by one of our lovely patrons.”
Since its founding in 2002, CLSW has provided therapeutic ‘Time to Retune’ breaks for people who have completed cancer treatment, along with their primary carers. These breaks offer a much-needed opportunity to process their experience and start looking to the future. This support is provided free of charge, and with no public funding, so the charity relies on fundraising, sponsorship, and donations.
Visitors to the Family Fun Day can also look forward to live music, exciting sports demonstrations, and taster sessions, along with plenty of surprises throughout the day. Taking place at the end of the Easter holidays and the start of the spring and summer season, the event is expected to attract guests from across the south west.
