Recently we heard that Exeter Racecourse was calling on communities across Devon to help recognise the people who make a real difference by nominating a Community Hero.

So, we nominated our Chair of Trustees, Donna Cook, who works tirelessly, not only for CLSW but also for several other organisations as well.  We wanted to acknowledge her role as an exceptional fundraiser and tireless volunteer who is well-known in the area for rallying support, organising events and raising vital funds for local causes.

And we were delighted, but not at all surprised, when we heard that she’d won! Last week, a group of us trouped off to Exeter Racecourse to see her on the podium, being awarded her prize. Along with a bottle of fizz and a certificate (which we’re expecting to see framed very soon) she received a Family Raceday experience for twelve people in March, complete with food, drinks and a private box.
