CLSW Patron Don Armand had a 13 year professional career, playing rugby both internationally and for top tier teams such as Stormers in South Africa, and Exeter Chiefs in England. He captained the Chiefs many times and won two caps for England. He was recognised as one of the top players in the premiership over several seasons and this was because of his exemplary performance, his on-field gravitas and the effect he had on others in the team as an established leader.
Don will be running two sessions in ball skills during the Family Fun Day, one for Under-10s and one for 10-16 year olds.
“The fun skill sessions I will be doing should be a great way to help some future budding rugby players learn things that they know are important at the top level,” said Don. “It’s great to be able to take the kids outside of their usual environments and teach them all the basics around rugby, be it ball skills or team skills, all of which are important both in sport and in life.” And as a parent himself, he was obviously speaking from experience when he added: “and exhausting them of all their extra energy should go down for their parents as well!”
The session for Under-10s will start at 12.15pm. The one for 10-16 year olds will start at 1.45pm. Each will last for one hour and places in each group will be limited to a maximum of 30. There will be a charge of £5 per person. Pre-booking and prepayment is essential and can be done by clicking here.
